Late-Night Food After World Cup Matches in Vancouver

Updated: March 23, 2026 | Category: Food & Drink

Three of Vancouver's seven World Cup matches kick off at 8:00 PM or later. Those matches end around 10:00 PM. You are hungry, you are buzzing with adrenaline, and half of Vancouver's restaurants are already closed. Here is your plan.

The Reality After 10 PM

Vancouver is not a late-night city. Most sit-down restaurants close their kitchens by 9:30-10:00 PM. But there are options — you just need to know them.

Open Late (10 PM+) Near BC Place

Ramen Gojiro (Robson St)

  • Distance: 10-min walk
  • Open until midnight or later. Rich tonkotsu ramen that is exactly what you need after screaming for 90 minutes. $16-20. There will be a line. Wait — it is worth it.

Ramen Danbo (Robson St)

  • Distance: 10-min walk
  • Similar to Gojiro. Japanese-style ramen. Open late. Slightly more refined. $16-18.

Donair Dude (Robson St)

  • Distance: 5-min walk
  • Halal. Open late on weekends. Chicken donair with the works. $12. Fast, filling, satisfying. The match-day default.

The Cambie (Cambie St)

  • Distance: 5-min walk
  • Serves food late. It is pub food — burgers, wings, fries. Not gourmet, but it is hot and available when nothing else is. Also cheap beer.

Granville Street Strip

  • Distance: 10-min walk
  • During the World Cup, the Granville pedestrian zone will have food vendors and late-night options. Multiple pizza-by-the-slice spots, shawarma joints, and fast food are open until 2-3 AM on this strip.

McDonald's / A&W / Tim Hortons

  • Several downtown locations open 24 hours. Not glamorous. But when it is midnight and you are starving, a Big Mac does not judge you.

Open Late (10 PM+) Worth the Trip

Phnom Penh (Chinatown)

  • Distance: 12-min walk
  • Cambodian-Vietnamese. The butter beef and chicken wings are legendary. Open until 10-11 PM on weekends. Get there RIGHT after the match.

Guu with Garlic (Robson)

  • Distance: 10-min walk
  • Japanese izakaya. Loud, fun, excellent small plates. Open until 11:30 PM. Perfect post-match energy.

Gyoza Bar (Robson)

  • Distance: 10-min walk
  • Japanese dumplings. Open until midnight Fri/Sat. Small, fast, delicious.

Match-Day Late Night Strategy

| Match Kickoff | Estimated End | Your Move | |---|---|---| | 3:00 PM | ~5:00 PM | No late-night issue. Eat anywhere. | | 6:00 PM | ~8:00 PM | Most restaurants still open. Book ahead. | | 8:00 PM | ~10:00 PM | Go DIRECTLY to a restaurant. Do not stop for drinks first. Kitchens close fast. | | 9:00 PM | ~11:00 PM | Ramen, Donair Dude, Granville strip, or The Cambie. Everything else is closing. |

⚠️ PRO TIP: Eat BEFORE the match if kickoff is 8 PM or later. A pre-match meal at 5:30-6:00 PM gives you energy for the match and removes the post-match food scramble entirely.
