Canada vs Switzerland in Vancouver — Match Day Guide (June 24, 2026)
Canada vs Switzerland — Match Day Guide (June 24, 2026)
Canada's second Vancouver match. A noon kickoff. And depending on how the Qatar match went, this could be a must-win.
Match Details
- Date: Wednesday, June 24, 2026
- Kickoff: 12:00 PM (noon) PDT
- Venue: BC Place, Vancouver
- Round: Group B, Match Day 3
- Capacity: 54,500
This is Canada's final group-stage match. Results from June 18 (vs Qatar) and June 19 (Switzerland vs Portugal in Toronto) will determine what Canada needs here.
The Noon Kickoff Problem
A noon kickoff on a Wednesday means:
- Gates open ~9:00–10:00 AM
- The morning SkyTrain commute overlaps with fan travel
- You need to plan your breakfast, not your dinner
- The FIFA Fan Festival opens early but may not be fully running for a noon match
Our Suggestion
Eat breakfast near Main Street–Science World before walking the Last Mile. The neighborhood around Science World has coffee shops and a few breakfast spots. Or eat in your hotel and head straight to the station.
Getting There
Same plan as every match day:
- Expo Line → Main Street–Science World Station (the only route to BC Place)
- Trains every ~2 minutes during match periods
- Arrive by 10:30 AM for a noon kickoff
- DayPass: $11.95 or tap your credit/debit card at fare gates
Before the Match
Breakfast Near the Route
- 49th Parallel Coffee (Main Street) — Excellent coffee and doughnuts. 10-minute walk from Main Street–Science World Station.
- Jam Cafe (Beatty Street) — The best brunch in the area. Expect a line. Arrive by 8:30 AM.
- Tim Hortons — Multiple locations downtown. Quick, cheap, reliable.
Pre-Game
The Granville Street pedestrian zone and Last Mile corridor will be active from morning. Expect a more relaxed pre-game atmosphere than the 3 PM and evening matches — this is a workday for most Vancouverites, so the crowd will skew toward visiting fans and people who took the day off.
Without Tickets
FIFA Fan Festival at Hastings Park
- Free entry, 25,000 capacity
- For a noon match, arrive by 9:00–9:30 AM
- Take Expo Line to 29th Avenue Station → PNE shuttle
Granville Island Viewing Zone
- Free, 1,000 capacity
- A noon match on a Wednesday will be less competitive for seats
- Great option if you want a relaxed viewing with food trucks
Pubs and Bars
Noon on a Wednesday is actually the easiest match to find a bar seat. Most places open by 11 AM. Try:
- Craft Beer Market (Olympic Village) — big screens, 100+ taps
- Tap & Barrel (Olympic Village) — waterfront patio, arriving by 11 AM should get you a spot
- Any pub on Granville Street within the pedestrian zone
After the Match
The match ends around 2:00 PM. You have the entire afternoon and evening ahead of you.
If Canada Advances
Celebration on Granville Street. The pedestrian zone will be electric. Expect spontaneous gathering similar to 2010 Olympics energy.
Things to Do with Your Afternoon
- Walk the False Creek Seawall from BC Place toward Granville Island (30 minutes, stunning)
- Stanley Park — take the SkyTrain to Waterfront Station and walk in. The seawall loop is 9 km.
- Granville Island Public Market — browse, eat, grab a beer at Granville Island Brewing
- English Bay Beach — bus or 30-minute walk from downtown. Catch the late sunset (~9:20 PM in June).
Dinner Plans
After a noon match you will be hungry by 5–6 PM. Check our Best Restaurants Near BC Place guide.
