Vancouver World Cup Weather: What to Actually Pack

Updated: March 23, 2026 | Category: Planning

Every travel site tells you "Vancouver has mild weather." That is true and useless. Here is what you actually need to know to pack correctly for the World Cup.

June Weather (Matches: June 13, 18, 21, 24, 26)

  • Daytime highs: 17-20°C (63-68°F)
  • Evening lows: 11°C (52°F)
  • Rain days: 3-8 days in June
  • Average rainfall: 56mm

The truth: Early June can still feel like spring. Locals call it "Juneuary" because true summer does not reliably arrive until late June or early July. You may get a gorgeous 25°C sunny day or a grey 14°C drizzly day. Sometimes both in the same week.

July Weather (Matches: July 2, 7)

  • Daytime highs: 20-22°C (68-72°F)
  • Evening lows: 13°C (55°F)
  • Rain: Rare. July is Vancouver's best month.

The truth: July is reliably beautiful. Clear skies, warm days, stunning mountain views. This is the Vancouver you see in photos.

The Packing List

Essentials

  • Light jacket or sweater — Non-negotiable. Even if it is 22°C during the day, it drops to 12°C after a 9 PM match.
  • Compact rain layer — A packable raincoat that fits in your clear bag. 30% chance you will need it in June. 5% in July.
  • Layers — A t-shirt with a hoodie or light fleece is the Vancouver uniform from May through September.
  • Comfortable walking shoes — You will walk a LOT. The "Last Mile" to BC Place, the seawall, Stanley Park. Bring shoes that handle both dry and wet pavement.
  • Sunscreen — SPF 30+. Sunset is at 9:20 PM in late June. That is a long day in UV.
  • Sunglasses — The light off the ocean and mountains is intense on clear days.

What NOT to Pack

  • Heavy winter jacket — You do not need it. Even the coolest evenings are above 10°C.
  • Umbrella — You cannot bring one into BC Place. Use a compact rain jacket instead.
  • Shorts only — Bring at least one pair of long trousers for evening matches.

The Insider Detail

Sunset times during the World Cup:

  • June 13: Sunset at 9:18 PM
  • June 21: Sunset at 9:21 PM (summer solstice — longest day)
  • July 7: Sunset at 9:15 PM

This means the 9:00 PM June 13 match kicks off in daylight. The sun will set during the first half. Inside BC Place (which has a roof), this does not matter much. But outside for the Last Mile walk and fan zones, you get extremely long evenings.
